Same problem as others, the speed control knob fell off and the control fell inside the fan. Removing the grill showed what the problem is, the hole was made too large for the clips on the control to grab. The same problem exists for the holes holding the screws for the grills. You can push the screws in by applying pressure with your thumb and wiggling the screw a bit. The overly large hole make for very quick assembly by low skilled people <read low wage>. That's the only reason I can see for the over sized holes, other than poor design/manufacturing/quality control.

I bought this fan very cheaply at Staples, and will be returning it.

The fan I bought (sealed, new in box) had a large inward curve. Thinking it possible though unlikely that this was part of the design, I proceeded to plug in the fan. It was evening and 90 degrees outside, and very hot in my kitchen.

I thought the indent might be a modernistic touch. Instead it was a defect. This inward curving of the (cheap plastic) exterior placed it close to the blade of the fan. The fan made a loud noise as the spinning blades hit the plastic exterior.

The quality control of this model must be really lousy. Check out the other reviews on Amazon.
